We are a small scale hobby kennel that recently
relocated from Phoenix AZ to SE Kansas mostly so that
our dogs would have a much better place to live.

We produce Unique & Quality American Cocker
Spaniels for loving homes.
We often do not adhere to
just the American Spaniel Club approved "colors" but
have Merles and Sables as well.  We still ensure they
are healthy and meet other Conformation Criteria tho.

Unlike the urban centers of KC, Topeka and Wichita or
the western plains, this section of Kansas has
beautiful rolling hills, abundant natural wildlife and
plenty of trees!  Here our dogs are part of the family,
live with us in the house, even sleep with us in bed @
night (or around the bed as some prefer).
Kat is disabled and Terry is retired so we
devote the majority of our time with our
furbabies.  When we do travel some
usually come with us and those that do
stay home are cared for by Kat's dad who
stays with the "grandpuppies" and gives
them the same kind of care and affection
we do when home.
The name KatteryKennels comes from
taking our first names (Kat + Terry) and
combining them.
 Both a cattery and a
kennel are a place that houses cats and
dogs respectively so the name fits us.
Other than our breeding cocker spaniels
we have 9 neutered kitties and 2
neutered "rescues" that are part of our
family.  We devote our time to the
furbabies as we call them often.
We believe that every home should
believe that the health and emotional
well being of them are far more
important than fancy things in life
.
Some of the more well known kennels
might like to flaunt pedigree and
championship status of their dogs~
all of which can be achieved with
money not necessarily by quality of
the dog.  Here @ Kattery Kennels we
think that having a healthy well
adjusted puppy or dog is far more
important~ its also not something
money can achieve for you.
We have a room that is entirely devoted to the
dogs, their toys, furniture, bowls and dog door
that leads out into a large enclosed DoggieYard
that has grass, trees and toys for them to enjoy.
We also have another room that is entirely
devoted to the cats that has their, boxes, bowls,
furniture and toys that the dogs might chew up
so they won't get out the doggie door and the
dogs aren't allowed in the kitty room so they
won't get into their food and boxes, other than
that they freely roam the house just like any kids
would.
They are NEVER in cages or left to fend
for themselves outdoors, we simply don't
believe in treating our babies that way.
Our breeding program is meticulously planned.
We screen all of our potential parents for genetic
disorders including getting them OFA'd and
CERF'd.  We keep them current on their
vaccinations, use preventative medicine and
blood screening as well.
So far we have had no incidents of illness here
and we aim to keep that status.
 You are welcome
to verify with our family veterinarian the status of
any and all of our furbabies.
Other than the rescues we took in (Dec 06) none
of ours have even had an ear infection.  Our
oldest cat (Emmykitty 7 going on 8 years old) did
have to have 2 teeth pulled in April/07 due to an
infected root but that is the first time for anything
since we began back in 1995.
We are licensed with the State of Kansas, go thru
at least a yearly inspection and annually our
veterinarian comes out to our home just to (Last
inspection date 11/7/2007~Passed with ZERO
Demerits)
We are AKC compliant and use them as the only
registry.
Kat has 9 years
experience as a
veterinary nurse,
dog groomer and
a small amount of
time spent with
the show dog
world where she
first fell in love
with Cocker
Spaniels.
Terry was raised on a farm
in MN & has a practical
hands on attitude and is
also one of the biggest
softies when it comes to
animals.  He does most of
the "hard" work around
here and is
often fixing or creating
something for the dogs
to enjoy!
We both work with our dogs, cats as a
team and devote the majority of our days
to their care and well being.  We have no
issue with sitting down on the floors to
play and incorporate their needs into our
daily routine.
These are some photos of
our neighborhood in the our
neighborhood in the Autumn.

It is a beautiful area to live in
especially this time of year.
We take our dogs for long
walks and they get to play
with the leaves in the yard.

This time of year there are
many deer, ducks, turkeys,
fox, coyotes, even a bobcat
and lots of other wildlife that
come into our yard but are
kept away from the dogs by
their fenced in dog yards.

Xmas 2007
We do not sell our puppies to just anyone.  We
screen potential homes, require a signed written
contract and we will ask for and check out
references.  NONE of our puppies are ever sold
to pet stores or brokers.

The contract also requires any family to return
the dog/puppy to us should the situation change
and they can no longer care for the dog.

Each puppy/dog is micro chipped and registered
before leaving for its new home.  We take every
step possible to ensure the well being of our
puppies and dogs.

New Owners are always welcome to visit our
home and check us out.  We do require however
that you agree to take certain precautions so as
to keep our facilities disease free. *shoe covers,
leaving other pets and or younger children at
home etc*
