Kat's Irises
The original Iris plants that were here had been neglected for several years, we
know the house had been vacant for at least 4. They were overcrowded and
competing for what little food the soil had left. We are gradually going thru all
the plants and moving them to give them the amount of space they need to
flourish. We can only do this during the cooler autumn months tho so we do not
damage the root systems. We intend to also add some new Irises in time and try
to have nearly every color possible.
I can't say that I have a favorite variety of the Irises, even tho I certainly have
my favorite colors. My grandparent's prefer our white irises as they seem to
last forever in a cut vase display. My neighbors to the west of us have asked for
the shorter red ones to put in their yard so they prefer them. I love them all
really and think they are the most beautiful part of spring every year! May is
the best month at our home to see them.
