Kat's Hydrangeas
My mom loved Hydrangeas and some of my earliest memories of life involve a home
we had with HUGE hydrangea bushes and honeysuckle as well.  We also had an open
field next to our home which in a way was my first garden as my mother planted it
each year with tomatoes and strawberries and such.  My mother grew up in the inner
city and never really had a chance to grow up with a garden and so when she had her
4 daughters I think it was extra important to her to instill in us certain values about
nature.
I lost my mother to Multiple Sclerosis during my teenage years tho she passed away
when I was 21, it was difficult to say the least to grow up without her and in a way my
garden is a way to remember her the way she was before she was sick.
My first hydrangea bush here was purchased by my paternal grandmother who knew
I loved the plant and wanted to put some in because of my memories of my mother.  I
have since added several others tho all in the white variety at this point.  (Due to the
soil here in KS they grow best and until I have the garden more established I will not
be able to change the ph level of the soil to get blue or pink hydrangeas etc.
